Lyn Selby: Principal Lawyer
Background
I grew up in the small town of Sawtell situated close to Coff’s Harbour on the far north coast of NSW. I attended boarding school in Grafton for my secondary education and then commenced my General Nursing training at the Prince of Wales hospital at Randwick in Sydney. I loved my work and developed important skills in meeting the needs of my patients and caring for my family.
Upon completion, I married and moved to Canberra and worked as a nurse and midwife for a number of years. We had 4 beautiful children but unfortunately my marriage ended after 13 years.
I then made the decision to pursue a career in teaching. I found shift work difficult as it impacted upon our family life and I wasn’t prepared to compromise it even further. Being a teacher had been my dream growing up and at the time it was the perfect solution for me raising my children as a single parent. I completed my degree and worked in secondary schools and was later appointed Head of Department in Performing Arts.
My divorce was messy and very painful but at the end of the journey a seed was firmly planted to pursue a future in law.
My background working with people from all walks of life is quite extensive and the skills I have developed through my different areas of work has made me a very experienced communicator with an insightful understanding of the needs of the individual, parents and children.
I possess an extensive knowledge of the law, my advice is sound and I am committed to my clients obtaining the best possible result .
